Why take lessons?
It's no surprise that music lessons cultivate creativity, but did you know that learning music can develop memory, coordination and motor skills for students of all ages? In addition, studies have shown that learning an instrument (and vocals count as an instrument!) relieves stress, builds confidence and can be therapeutic. Not to mention, music is fun, expands social circles and gives students a sense of accomplishment.
How much are lessons?
One weekly 30-minute lesson is a flat rate of $156/month.
One weekly 60-minute lesson is a flat rate of $312/month.
Tuition covers 47 lessons a year, divided out equally by 12 months. We are closed throughout the year for various holidays and such, but these closings are not included in the tuition rate. Although the monthly rate is a yearly tuition, the commitment at House of Jam is only month-to-month. Here is our holiday calendar.
Are there live performance opportunities?
Yes! We have 4 showcases spread out throughout the year. Each student has an opportunity to play though it is not mandatory. Many of our students have performed for the showcase solo, with our teachers and sometimes with other students! Tickets are available for friends and family. The venue does change, but our last few showcases have been held at the wonderful Music Room in West Yarmouth.
How does it work?
Once you have decided that you would like to try music lessons. We will help you schedule an introductory lesson. The intro lesson gives the student an opportunity to meet the instructor and see what the lesson is like before committing to monthly lessons. Intro lessons are $40 (paid upfront) for a 30 minute lesson. Contact us to schedule an intro lesson here.
Can I come to the lesson with my child?
Yes. House of Jam has 2 music lesson studios, each with plenty of space for a parent/guardian. We also have a waiting room in the building directly outside of both studios.
What ages and skill levels can you accommodate?
We offer lessons for students 6 to 106! Our instructors can teach all levels of skill from beginner to advanced. You can learn more about our instructors here.
Do you offer virtual classes?
Yes! In addition to in person classes at House of Jam Studios, we offer virtual classes. We also offer hybrid lessons (some lessons in person and some virtual).
What happens if I cannot make my lesson?
We can always change an in-person lesson to a virtual lesson, just let us know ahead of time so your instructor can set up the virtual meeting. If you can not make your lesson at all, please let us know as soon as possible. Though we can not guarantee make-up lessons, we will try to work with your schedule to the best of our instructors availability, particularly if we have ample notice. Here is a link to our policies
